Exhibitions + Events

Brought to you by the Independent Publishing Resource Center (IPRC), in conjunction with Wordstock, the TEXT BALL is Portland’s most unique literary event. Attendees are encouraged to come dressed with text as part of their evening attire. The evening will culminate in a costume parade, with literary prizes for best outfits. Note that costumes are encouraged, but definitely not required.

The theme for this year’s Ball is The Graphic Details. Back Fence PDX’s B. Frayn Masters will host a live, unscripted mini storytelling show with graphic novelist Nicole Georges, cartoonist Matt Bors and Wildwood Chronicles illustrator, Carson Ellis. The host for the entire event is the one and only AC Dickson of eBay PowerSeller fame, and his recent TBA performance as a Life Coach. Along with live music and text-based refreshments, attendees can also enjoy word games like Scrabble, giant crossword puzzles, a dirty limerick challenge and a silent auction.

All proceeds from the TEXT BALL benefit the IPRC’s mission to facilitate creative expression, identity, and community by providing access to self-publishing tools and resources.

The IPRC's Mission is to facilitate creative expression, identity and community by providing individual access to tools and resources for creating independently published media and artwork.

Since its inception in 1998 the center has been dedicated to encouraging the growth of a visual and literary publishing community by offering a space to gather and exchange information and ideas, as well as to produce work. The IPRC is an Oregon 501(c)(3) Nonprofit organization.
