Ben Popp

Bio:
Ben Popp has been working with film through this past decade in various cities around the country. Currently living in Portland he is working towards an aesthetic rooted in the simplistic beauties of celluloid filmmaking.

Works:
The works presented here tonight are a mixture of sculpture, direct interaction through the mise en scene of cinema and good old flickery theater screenings.

Kenny Reed

Bio:
Kenny Reed is a prolific filmmaker from Chicago who continues to search out the infinite boundaries of the experimental narrative technique. Festering upon the façade of what true cinema is, Kenny creates worlds closely linked to the paranormal of human emotions and psychologies. Celluloid and Digital are diagnosed as a newfound Siamese twin, one yet barely obscured from the scrutiny of Hollywood, but curiously aware of the beautiful minds of his outsider audience.

Tyler Wallace

Bio:
Tyler Wallace is a Portland-based artist working in video, installation, and performance to investigate concepts of identity and personal history. She received her BFA from Pacific Northwest College of Art in May 2009.

Single Channel Video

The piece is to be ideally displayed on a flatscreen television (I have one I can use) hung on a wall, without headphones.

The video can be viewed here: http://www.vimeo.com/4651807

Adam Keller

Bio:
Adam Keller earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Sculpture from the Massachusetts College of Art. He has been involved in several artistic ventures, running the Rererato Artspace in Portland for nearly 2 years, presenting work at the Portland Documentary and eXperimental Film Festival, and performing at Performance Works NW, Portland.

Description:
Part ritual, part laser light show, this 20 minute performance follows an arc from the quiet hum of nighttime rainfall, through the cultivation of inner strength, eventually reaching a fully enabled state of awareness, where anything is possible, and all choices present themselves at once. Electronic pulses and operatic vocal manipulation pour forth as the audience is bombarded with color and aural vibrations.

Jeffrey Von Ragan

Bio:
Jeffrey Von Ragan is an artist/musician living in the pacific north west. He was awarded the James Broughton Film Award from the San Francisco Art Institute. His film Forbidden Fruit aired on CBS, New Music Now, in 1993. He believes he is a nice guy.

Project Description for Down, Canvas Cloud installation:
The 16mm hand tinted blue film Down, Canvas Cloud was shot in the rainy ally ways of Chinatown San Francisco.
In this simple installation there are three elements:

The first is the film itself showing the similarity of states of water and relationships.
Second is the tea kettle placed on a podium in front of the visuals. A vessel.
Third is the sound emanating from the kettle. A subtle recognition.
