It's time for another rousing edition of Arty Words, the round orb of intellectual mass large enough to be considered a planet. Or at least a moon. With some Southern hospitality on tap from Mr. Morris and the beautiful meanderings of Ages and Ages, you just might find yourself in some serious thrall.

$7 or entry plus a copy of Call It What You Want by Keith Lee Morris, a copy of Whose World is This? by Lee Montgomery, a Tin House tote bag, and a beer: $20

Keith Lee Morris is an associate professor of English and creative writing at Clemson University. His short stories have been published in Tin House, A Public Space, Southern Review, Ninth Letter, StoryQuarterly, New England Review, The Sun, and the Georgia Review, among other publications. He is the author of two novels, The Greyhound God (2003) and The Dart League King (Tin House, 2008). His new story collection, Call it What You Want, will be published by Tin House Books in April 2010.

Lee Montgomery is the author of The Things Between Us, A Memoir (Free Press, August 2006), Whose World Is This? Stories (University of Iowa Press, September 2007), and Searching for Emily: Illustrated (Nothing Moments Press, October 2007). The Things Between Us received the 2007 Oregon Book Award in creative nonfiction and Whose World Is This? the 2007 John Simmons Iowa Short Fiction Award. She is the editorial director of Tin House Books and the executive editor for Tin House magazine.

Ages and Ages was established by a group of Portland friends while holed up in a small town along the Oregon coast. Their music is very choral, with swirling vocal melodies, harmonies, and rounds that build on a foundation of multi-layered percussion and intricate beats, verging on tribal at times.

Tin House Books is an offshoot of the award-winning literary magazine Tin House. The editorial director of Tin House Books is Lee Montgomery. The editorial office of Tin House Books is located in Portland, Oregon.
